Legal Access in Urban India
This 2014 interdisciplinary comparative study of residential evictions in four of India's largest cities examined the role that access to legal services and information plays in protecting residents' tenure security and residential stability. With funding from Northeastern University's Tier 1 Grant program, the NuLawLab sponsored two law school student co-op placements supporting Fulbright Scholar and NU Professor and Chair of Sociology Liza Weinstein's field research in Delhi, Bengalaru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The study added to the active research on residential informality, evictions, and housing rights activism in those cities.
