Risking Justice
An Interdisciplinary Examination of Automated Decision-Making Algorithms in the U.S. Criminal Justice System
Funded by a 2020 Northeastern University Tier 1 Grant, this collaboration among the School of Law, Khoury College of Computer Science, and D’Amore-McKim School of Business is critically examining the application of automated decision-making algorithms in the criminal justice system, ascertaining the effect of such systems on stakeholder confidence in, and opinion of, the criminal justice system, and articulating a path towards developing algorithms free of unlawful bias. We expect our full report to be published in early 2021.
